About Libertas

Libertas is the Roman goddess of liberty. She is a governess of freedom, both inner and outer. From Latin, the word Libertas translates to the word freedom. In imagery, Libertas is sometimes pictured wearing a crown of laurel leaves or a liberty cap/crown and carrying a pole of liberty also called a vindicta. The well-known philosopher, Cicero, wrote about a temple that was built in her honor on Aventine Hill in Rome.

She was the subject of the French sculpture given to the United States as gift, La Liberté éclairant le monde which means Liberty Enlightening the World also known as The Statue of Liberty. She is a goddess that favors immigrants and honors all beings’ rights to personal freedom.

You chose this goddess because it is time for you to feel the true inner feeling of freedom. Does your heart feel free? Do you feel liberated to do what you need and choose? Ask yourself these questions knowing that you are worthy of freedom for you will choose benevolent actions and situations. Plant Power Remedy

Laurel leaf or Bay leaf / Laurus nobilis

Take as an herbal remedy, as directed. Dried bay leaves can be placed in hot water to create an infusion (commonly called a tea) to assist in digestion, calm coughing, and boost immunity.

Essential oil of this plant has antirheumatic effects and is useful when applied topically to treat joints after exercise and for soreness. These experiences scar our DNA like a racial memory. Sometimes, they are subtle, somatic echoes passed down from generation to generation. They may be stories told from mother to child, again and again, impeding feelings of freedom. Though remembering the past has value and we can learn from it, we mustn’t carry its energetic echo in our cells if it inhibits our optimum health.
